About Dave

Dave is a highly experienced security professional who has been part of the FGH Group since 2006. He has managed large-scale operations at major events in the UK and abroad, frequently leading teams of more than 200 staff, and brings wide-ranging expertise in compliance, change management, and organisational resilience. His consultancy work is underpinned by an MSc in Security and Risk Management, alongside specialist diplomas in Counter Terrorism Risk Management, HR Management, and Education.

A versatile generalist, Dave is particularly skilled at identifying cultural, procedural, and compliance gaps that impact security performance and developing practical solutions to close them. He has also designed and delivered tailored training programmes for high-profile clients, including Liverpool FC and the New West End Company. A member of the Institute of Strategic Risk Management (M.ISRM), Dave combines deep sector knowledge with commercial awareness to deliver proportionate, effective outcomes for clients.

David Mangan

About David

Dave served for 32 years with the UK police and military, retiring as a Chief Inspector. A Public Order specialist, he was accredited as a Silver and Bronze Public Order Commander and a Tactical Firearms Commander. Much of his policing career was focused on high-threat operational situations, alongside commanding responses to, protests, events and public disorder. On completion of his police service he became Strategic Head of Safety and Security at Sheffield Wednesday Football Club where he gained qualifications as a Safety Officer, he has also worked with the England and Wales Cricket Board responsible for the safety of international cricket teams touring the UK.

Since joining FGH in 2021, Dave has applied this expertise to major projects, including serving as Project Lead for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. His consultancy portfolio includes a security review of a multi-billion-dollar transport infrastructure project in Egypt, where his recommendations significantly reduced theft while increasing the efficiency of the security team and overseeing a full security strategic change programme for a major international manufacturing business. A member of the ISRM, Dave continues to lead on SAG engagement and specialises in proportionate, multi-agency solutions that balance safety, security, operational, and commercial realities.

Mark McQuade

About Mark

Mark is a nationally recognised crowd management specialist with nearly two decades of experience in the security and events industry. He holds a first-class BA (Hons) in Crowd Management and an MSc in Crowded Places and Public Safety Management, combining academic expertise with extensive operational leadership. His career highlights include serving as Counter Terrorism Liaison for the British Summer Time Festival, Head Steward at Hampden Park, and planning crowd management operations for international events such as Afro Nation in Portugal and the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Cairo.

Mark is also a respected author and thought leader. He runs Working With Crowds, a resource for best practice in the sector, and has co-authored key guidance documents through the UKCMA including the latest Crowd Management chapter of the Purple Guide and Safer Crowds, Safer Venues. He has also published two books, The Art of Crowds and The Guiding Hand, cementing his reputation as a leading voice in crowd safety.
